happy monday

happy monday everyone!
i've got my warm cup of coffee in hand and i'm ready to conquer this week.

i love the feeling of a busy schedule ahead of me...i've got a long running to do list, and there's nothing better than the satisfaction from checking off my to do's.

this past weekend, i lost count of how many times i said "gosh i miss college."
it was baylor homecoming and it was a jolly old time with friends (i think i've been listening to too much christmas music already).

my weekend was jam packed with seeing old friends, walking the campus, loving the baylor parade, seeing my favorite pi phi's bouncing around on stage at pigskin, and rooting for the bears at the football game.

don't you just love that happy monday morning feeling after you had a perfect weekend?

backpacking trip

remember when i told you of my plans to backpack a while back? i've finally gotten around to posting about it.

it was absolutely wonderful and so needed. the simplicity and beauty of nature is astounding.

some highlights of the trip:
  • getting in around 11pm and hiking with the billions of stars as our only light source
  • having pancake balls and common grounds french press coffee for breakfast
  • learning how to "leave no trace" by spewing my toothpaste
  • eating lunch next to a woman with butterfly wings on
  • finding out baylor's victory against ut with the little reception we got, and then celebrating in austin the next day

"and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us."

best homecoming yet

prepare yourselves for lots of pictures...i just can't contain everything in a few photos.

remember how i was wishing for a win for baylor so that we could make it to a bowl game? we did it! AND the rangers are going to the world series! good weekend for sports...yes!

i spent saturday with my family and one of our good family friends, the shelbys. just as we were complaining about how we have the same routine every year for homecoming, we visited a quaint village of amish-like people (they said they were conservative christian people, NOT amish) called homestead. it was the cutest little village where we had lunch and watched them weave scarves, hammer metal and carve wood. and the food was out of this world. everything was organic, local and free range (and delicious).

after homestead, we spent our time visiting the floats (pi phi's and kappa sig's is below) and exploring waco.

oh and today, we found out that baylor football is ranked #25 in the ap poll. sic 'em bears!

p.s. congrats to julie and kerr on the engagement!
p.p.s. all those pics are taken via my iphone. amazing, right?

homecoming weekend

one of my favorite memories as a child is dressing up in a baylor outfit (matching my twin brother of course) and going to all the festivities of baylor's homecoming. in celebration of this weekend, here are some vintage football programs of different bowl games. i have my fingers crossed that we will win another big 12 game and make it to a bowl this year!!

fall break in colorado

i spent this past weekend in colorado with three of my closest friends at baylor. we were privileged to stay with kylie's sweet and welcoming family at their home in denver.

so here's my weekend in one sentence: despite the shortness of breath accompanying every physical activity i participated in, the weather was beautiful, the food was in abundance, the fellowship was genuine and the sweet victory for baylor was exhilarating.

the adventures of 2 kayakers

this weekend ranks very highly in the top 5 things i've done in college.

one of my best friends, courtney king, and i decided to live it up senior year and go with baylor's outdoor adventure program on an all-day kayaking trip. let me tell you, it was the most outrageous and funniest experiences of my life.

i personally learned a couple of lessons i would like to share with you...ahem.

1. when trying to keep from dehydrating, one must use natures gift of rivers to use the bathroom.
2. when the leaders of such a trip proclaim it's "brunch time", don't treat it like a light snack and choose only a granola bar and an apple. eat like you won't eat until 6 hours later.
3. upon seeing a red creature in the water, don't proclaim it is a lobster to the other outdoor professionals. (try crawfish).
4. always bring a waterproof disposable camera. forget pretending like you do things outdoors all the time, the pictures end up being priceless.

but seriously, this trip was amazing. i learned a cool new skill, met some inspiring people, experienced the beauty of God, and made some awesome memories.
