one in eight million

there is this restaurant in the mega mall in dallas where i love to sit back and people watch. it's so fascinating to observe all the types of people who pass by.

the mom and daughter duo in search of a prom dress,

the hipster teen couple wearing the same pair of skinny jeans,

the guy trying to appear as manly as possible while he shops for himself,

and the richie rich dallasites trying to impress their fellow shoppers with runway worthy clothing and neimans, saks, and louis vuitton bags.

what i love the most about this little routine is that every person has their own story. their own personal failures and successes, hardships and celebrations. yet you have no idea such stories exist as you pass them by.

the new york times has this project called one in 8 million that captures the stories of individuals through stunning b&w photographs. the chosen people tell their stories in a two minute bit while the pictures offer you a window into their lives.

oh my goodness. my friend stephanie gets to do a project for her photography class based on this website. how fun would that be?

oh my goodness. these photographs are captivating. it's as if we are diving inside the imagination of ben heines with his pencil and camera pieces. how clever!

do you ever think about how much the face is probably looked at? it's proper to look someone in the eye when talking to them, when a picture is taken, don't we all zoom into look at our face, and women (and men) spend thousands in plastic surgery perfecting the look of their face.

this photographer captures every little wrinkle, curve, and line of the face with such beauty. each photo draws you in and makes you wonder the story behind the photo. if you have a chance, check out his flickr site, it's captivating.

new blog obsession

when i get married, i want to have a forever-long trip just like this couple.

after their wedding day, mr. and mrs. globe trot (as they are dubbed in the blogging world) decided to take half a year off to travel the world. and since both of them are talented photographers, their pictures are phenomenal. i can't stop poring over their blog.

3191 miles apart

ever since this summer, i have been waiting for half price books to get a copy of the book a year in mornings. i really should get it from amazon, but i love the feeling of picking it up and buying it from the local bookstore.

it's a photographic collection from a shared blog of two friends that live 3191 miles apart. they like to get up early, don't stay up late and prefer to get snail mail instead of comments. and their photography is captivating.

hopefully my next visit to half price books will end with this lovely book in my bag.

do you ever see people on the streets and just want to stop and stare at their fab style?

this magazine makes me marvel. they call it a "magazine for the creative and curious." that in itself makes me want to flip through its pages.

since each issue is $18, i'll have to settle with admiring it in the digital world. but oh the design and photography in this magazine makes me swoon!
