coastlines at the dma

tonight i plan on making a trip to the dallas museum of arts for free admission and a showing of the movie whale rider. since the exhibition of this summer has been coastlines, they have been showing films set by the sea.

i'm so excited because seeing this coastline exhibition has been on my bucket list for this entire summer!

mater hater

yesterday i spent the day with two emily's, running all around the great city of dallas. here's a little rundown with the highlights of the day.

we began our morning at my favorite coffehouse, legal grounds.
emily noah somehow got pressured into spending $14 on breakfast food, so i think its safe to state that legal grounds will remain only my favorite spot.

i was labeled a "mater hater" after i politely refused a taste of a tomato from a man who was cutting slivers of the mater with his bare hands (all i could think was germs, bacteria...food poisoning!! so i'll take that label!)

for dinner we took the locally-grown produce we had purchased earlier and grilled up a vegetarians feast! delish! we then packed up our lawn chairs and squeezed in a spot next to hippies in the parking lot of half price books to enjoy jurassic park. i dont know what was scarier in the movie...the high-wasted mom jeans, or the quality special effects of the 1990's.

i'm off to houston for my first business trip! happy sunday!!

weekend = success!

this weekend was good. fun times with with friends and lots of laughter.

it began with the grease sing-a-long. and oh boy, was it well worth that $10.50 you have to pay at northpark. my cousin emily and i could NOT control our laughter. it was just too good to be true: a bunch of people packed in a movie theater, singing their hearts out, and attempting to mimic the hand motions.

oh i wish i could post the video i snuck because it is just TOO good! but dear blogger.com thinks the file is too large for my posting.

saturday i got to spend some time with my sweet friend julie who was in town for the weekend. after a delish lunch at breadwinners, we came upon this funky place and created our very own, one-of-a-kind friendship bracelets. it was so so fun and i highly recommend it to anyone feeling especially crafty. the great thing was, it was cheap! my bracelet set me back a whopping $8.50!!

looks like a million bucks, huh?

lastly i leave you with a snippet of this band that did a little gig at my church saturday night. let me tell you, they were ultra cool! (need i mention they are from california!) my dad was so inspired, he purchased not 1, not 2, but THREE of their cd's.

introducing...taste + see

thanks to jim lockhart being my father, i love finding events/festivals/museums/fun restaurants to try, and then informing as many people as possible about how great they are.

so may i introduce you to taste + see?

every friday i will (attempt to) feature some fun shindig to do over the weekend. now this event could be a new restaurant, cozy coffee shop, organic food market (TASTE) or a free showing of a movie, a hip arts festival, a fabulous sale (SEE) in the dallas area.

i do have to warn you: with my current status being a poor college student earning nothing but experience this summer, i will keep these ideas relatively cheap. but i'm sure we can all agree that it is nice not having to pay for everything.

so without further ado: this week's taste and see is...

grease sing-along

cost: $10.50
location: amc northpark
date & time: friday at 7:00pm & 9:00pm
details: enjoy singing along to your favorite musicals? this is YOUR event! let your inner broadway musical star go wild tonight as you belt out the tunes to grease. (if you want to really kick it up a notch, pull out your best 50's costume to really get swingin')

"satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days."

work it out

today my brothers compared and measured muscles with the cord of a phone charger.

don't you wish you looked this good while working out...

"rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love."
ephesians 4:15-16

p.s.

DO go see the movie killers.

DO see it the opening night of toy story 3 and witness multiple woody's, aliens, and buzz light years.

DO see it at northpark when there is a power outage.

DO NOT mischeviously sit in the seats reserved for handicapped. you will begin to smell the remnants of an elderly woman's explosion of perfume from earlier that day.
